Top 5: Book vs Ebook
I bring to you one of the most controversial tops 5’s I have yet to publish. I know people have their preference when choosing the material they read with. I want to outline factors for each paper books and e books. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you don’t agree with anything that follows that a okay! I am by no means saying one is better than the other. Everything is personal preference I simply want to put out there the factors I consider when choosing which avenue to read through. If I have missed any factors please feel free to leave a comment! Also what one is your preference? Do you have different choices for different situations? I would love to hear from you!
Ebook: they are easy to carry as they are light. You can put a whole library on them and not break your back or weight down your bag. They are my choice when I travel because they are lightweight and do not take up a lot of room in my suitcase or carry on. You can now also borrow most books in the e-book forum from the library. This makes it is convenient if you don’t have time to go pick up your book from the library. When you buy an ebook its downloaded directly to your device, no waiting for the mail to come.
Books: paper books are easier to borrow from your friends and family. It is also convenient to show off your collections if this is what your into. Also you can have the convenience of going anywhere and buying a paper book.
Ebook: the new ereaders have awesome options from the colour of the paper, print size and awesome fun skins. They have great options for night and daytime reading which enhance the reading experience greatly!. You can stick to black and white book covers or some e-readers are colours now!
Book: The smell and feel of a paper book is something that no other experiences can compare to. I love the feel of physically turning the page. I also love the feel of a floppy paperback! The covers of paper books are spectacular as you can see all the textures some authors add to their books as well as cover inserts.
EBook: so relatively speaking e book prices are lower from the research I have done if not the same as books. I have found some amazing sites that offer free to super cheap books. Kobo has daily deals where you can find some great books for $2-5. They also offer some classics for free!. Bookbub sends you daily deals as well.
Books: We has all then there, when we are at our fav book store, we have a pile of books and have to put half back because the bill will be too expensive. Books do tend to be on the more expensive side. Now yes you can find great deals at places like the salvation army, book depository and others. Libraries are great for the people who are not wanting to spend money however the wait times tend to be longer for the more popular books.
4. Buying Experience
EBooks: So the ebook buying experience has come a long way from when they initially came out. There are a great number of sites to purchase books from now! Even libraries like I have mentioned previously have jumped on the ebook trend and you can borrow online. This makes everything instantaneous and you do not have to wait to enjoy the book you want.
Books: One of my fav things is perusing a book store. I make it a date with my man or just a jaunt with my BFF. Looking through a book shelf after book shelf for my next read has a unique feel. It gives readers great joy to be able to physically look at something before buying it.
5. Different Generations Want Different Things
EBook vs Books: so there is the most difficult part of my blog. I talked to a lot of people about their preferences. Younger people are torn because they like the look and feel of books but they like the convenience and ease of an ebook. The older generation was torn as well. Some find it hard to learn new technology but others like the challenge and like the instant access to magazines/ papers. They find going to the store harder for them than just clicking on a link and having things directly accessible!
So here are the factors I thought of when choosing a book over an ebook. For me it’s completely situational preference. Travelling and work I love my ebook. Curling up at home I do love me a book though. What do you all think? Have I missed anything when considering a book vs an ebook? Please tell me your preference and why!
